What is ImageTerm?
ImageTerm is comprised of an application server and thin clients that combine to automatically image-enable existing, non-image applications. ImageTerm automatically works in parallel with a host application to display images from any compatible repository, including Tangent’s DocuTran® document processing platform, or any archive that provides suitable API or service-based access to retrieve images. ImageTerm makes it easy to image-enable an existing paper-based data entry process -- only minimal modifications are typically required to the legacy system. The result is a seemlessly image-enabled application.
Typical Applications
- Image Data Entry
- Customer Service
Primary Benefits
- Image enablement boosts productivity and accuracy with minimal cost
- Preserves investment in existing legacy applications
- Leverages many existing image repositories
Features
- Web Services Architecture - Fast and reliable image retrieval, that easily passes through corporate or personal firewalls.
- Simple Client Installation – ImageTerm’s client installs quickly, with minimal effort.
- Simple Client Operation – ImageTerm’s client is easy to use, so minimal training is required.
Image Manipulation - Manipulations such as zoom and pan may be performed directly within the host terminal emulation session using hot keys. With this seamless integration, the operator never needs to toggle between applications or use a mouse, enabling true heads-down image data entry.
- Keystroke Logging - For security audits or tracking operator productivity.
Session Authentication - Only authenticated clients may retrieve images.
- SSL Encryption - Makes it suitable for extranet usage.
- Multiple Repositories - Images may be served from multiple sources. This is typically used to enable retrieval from a fast near-term repository whenever possible, but automatically fail-over as necessary to retrieve from a long-term image archive. In certain environments, this two-tiered approach maximizes both retrieval reliability and performance.
Requirements
ImageTerm is compatible with various third-party Windows-based software clients used to emulate 3270, 5250, and other types of terminals. It is also compatible with many Windows clients that provide a GUI front-end to mainframe and mid-range systems, even ones that were internally developed. No web browser is required. Contact Tangent Systems for a free consultation to determine whether your client software is compatible with ImageTerm.
